Football team arriving home, poised for grand welcome in Jhapa

Preparations have been completed for a grand welcome to the Nepali football team which is returning home today after winning the men’s football tournament of the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) which concluded in Guwahati, India on Tuesday. A team including Minister for Youth and Sports, Satya Narayan Mandal and Joint Secretary at the ministry Chudamani Pokharel has already reached Bagdogra, India to welcome the victorious team.

The football team will first arrive at Kakarbhitta of Jhapa district where a victory rally will be held. The rally will be organized by the District Sports Development Committee of Jhapa, said Shankar Thapa, president of the committee.

The victory rally will begin from Kakarbhitta and proceed to the Chandragadhi airport, passing through Dhulabari and Birtamod. The team will then board a 2:55 pm flight to Kathmandu. A victory rally, to be organized by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) will be held in Kathmandu as well. The rally which will begin from the Tribhuvan International Airport will take the route of Tilganga, Gaushala Chowk, Ratopul, Gyaneshwar, Lhotse Chowk, Kamalpokhari, Putalisadak, Padmodaya turning, Exhibition Road, Rastriya Sabhagriha, Bhadrakali, Sundhara, New Road Gate, Bir Hospital, Bhotahiti, Jamal, Keshar Mahal, Narayanhiti Museum South Gate, Old Buspark, Bhadrakali, Sahidgate, Tripureshwar and conclude at the Dashrath Stadium where ANFA will organize a special program to honor the team.
