The chilli is grown in almost all planes throughout the country where as the green pepper is grown at a little high elevations also where the climate in relatively mild. The chilies are are used green as well as dry in the powdered form. It is rich source of vitamin A and vitamin C among the vegetables. It is grown for spices, sauces and pickles.During the preparation of land 20-30t/ha Compost or FYM should be applied. Bell pepper is a heavy feeder crop, hence require nitrogen dose than that of chili. Therefore, for chilies N:P:K @100:60:40 kg/ha and for bell pepper N:P:K @150:60:40 kg/ha have been recommended. In both crops full dose of phosphorus (p) and potash (k) should be applied as basal dose. Dose of nitrogen should be applied in three splits (i.e.1/3 as basal dose, 1/3 as after 30 days, and remaining 1/3 after 50 days). If crop is transplanted on raised bed, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied in the furrow.
